A charter to remember
A private charter of The Jersey Duchess is the perfect way to celebrate any occasion — with colleagues, friends, or family — and a unique nautical experience in its own right.
The boat has a fully fitted sound system and dance floor, a comfortable lounge area with booths, plus seating at the rear and on the upper deck. We aim to tailor each charter to your exact requirements to make it unforgettable.
Departure
Departure is from Albert Pier Pontoon, next to St Helier Lifeboat Station. Please arrive at the white marquee no later than 15 minutes prior to your booked slot.
Route
The Jersey Duchess is coded for the southwest coast. Depending on weather and sea conditions, we can sail as far as Corbière Lighthouse and anchor in one of the bays along the way.
Swimming
Subject to the skipper's approval on the day. Please note the boat does not have changing rooms — only two small toilets — and towels are not provided.
Hire prices and fees
What's included
All private hire charters are set for three hours. Prices below are for boat hire and crew.

Every private hire includes a complimentary welcome drink (Duchess Punch or similar).
- For parties of 20 passengers or more, on-board security is compulsory at an additional £115.00 (total for 3 hours).
- Each charter has a compulsory minimum bar spend of £500.00, invoiced prior to the event and payable in advance.
- Minimum passenger numbers: none — though the minimum bar spend applies regardless of party size.
- Maximum passenger numbers: 65.
- All bookings incur a refundable damage deposit / holding fee of £200.00.

Catering & bar
Food & drinks
Outside catering cannot be brought on board without prior written permission from The Jersey Duchess office.
Drinks
The Jersey Duchess has a fully licensed bar serving prosecco, beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and snacks. Outside drinks are not permitted on board. Drinks packages and specific requests can be quoted on request — subject to a compulsory minimum bar spend of £500.00.
Music
- Bring your own device (phone/tablet) and plug into our speaker system.
- Arrange your own DJ — the office must be informed in advance. Any DJ who hasn't played on board before needs a crew briefing no later than 1 week before the booked slot.
- The crew can book a DJ on your behalf at an additional cost — just specify your preferred genre.
Decorations
Certain decorations are allowed on board — the boat may not be decorated any earlier than 30 minutes prior to the event, and the office must be informed beforehand. Sellotape (or any tape that could damage the boat's paint), glitter, confetti, filled balloons, piñatas and canons are not permitted. Any balloons or plastic decorations must be secured properly against wind and waves, and customers must bring their own supplies.

The essentials
Relating to the supply of services to you ("The Customer") by The Jersey Duchess ("The Company").
Payment schedule
Full/final balance: due no more than 31 days prior to the event date. If payment isn't received by the due date shown on the balance invoice, The Company may cancel the booking and the deposit will be lost. Services added after final balance payment are subject to availability and an additional invoice for immediate payment.
Damage deposit: all bookings, regardless of party size, incur a holding fee of £200.00 in case of damages. Any damage is reported by the crew after inspection, and The Customer will be informed of details and costs.
If a booking is made less than 5 weeks prior to the hire date, the deposit and final payment are both due at the same time to secure a slot.
Cancellations
Once a deposit has been paid and a slot secured, cancellation by The Customer is non-refundable. If cancelling after the final balance has been paid, refunds are at The Company's discretion — subcontractors booked on The Customer's behalf may impose their own terms.
If The Company cancels due to adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, an alternative date/time will be offered where possible; if no suitable alternative is available, a full refund is given. Illness of The Customer (individual or group) does not qualify for a refund.
Food & drinks
The Company offers catering options at additional cost. The Customer may not hire outside catering suppliers or bring their own food on board without prior written permission. Outside drinks are not permitted — the on-board bar covers a wide selection, with packages available on request.
Decorations
The boat may not be decorated earlier than 30 minutes before the event, and the office must be informed beforehand. Sellotape or tape that could damage the boat's paint, glitter, and confetti (including filled balloons, piñatas and canons) are not allowed. Balloons and other plastic decorations must be secured against wind and waves; The Customer supplies their own.
